How to Change Your Reaction to Things

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been in a situation that completely shook your world? Did you wonder how this could have happened to you? Perhaps your spouse has left you, or you have lost a friend or business.

Or perhaps your health was in danger. It may not have been traumatic but it was enough to make you feel like the end. How did it make you feel? Was it enough to make you scream? Do you want to punch a wall? Oder worse?

Because life is often beyond our control, I ask this question. Because sometimes life is unpredictable, we don’t have any control over the outcome. Life is 5% how it happens and 95% how you respond to it. Why? Why?

While I don’t advocate being angry or sad about what happens, it is important to remember that there are no right or wrong answers. Life will continue regardless of your reaction. Why not be positive? Although it may seem like a smug statement, I assure you that it is based on pure sincerity.

We all know someone who, no matter the circumstances, is happy. Why is this? You don’t think this person ever has to deal with difficult circumstances.

Life is 5% what happens to you

It’s not about what happens. It isn’t. It is impossible to tie your happiness to someone, a possession, or even a thought. It simply won’t. First, money won’t buy happiness. Neither will money buy happiness for another person.

Self-worth is much more than that. It is, even though you might think it might not. We’ve seen it happen many times. You think, “How could this happen?” Or, a celebrity who has all the fame and money commits suicide.

What is the reason for bad things happening? It’s not because they aren’t successful in any one of the areas. It’s not the case. It is due to something deeper.

The point is that you cannot allow others or circumstances to determine your happiness, self-worth, or self-esteem. It’s impossible. It’s not about what happens, but how you respond to it. How can you be positive when your self-worth and worth are tied to that person, place, or thing?

You don’t have to be angry, sad, or upset. Don’t stay in this place for too many years. It can be given to God, Allah, Buddha, or anyone else who claims your divinity. Give it to all of the universes. All of us are interconnected in this universe. No matter your beliefs, we all come from the same source. Life is only temporary. We are here for a brief moment and then we’re gone. Live it the way it was meant to be lived.

Life is 95% about how you react

The key is your reaction to an event. How can you respond positively to an event? How can you make sure that your life is 10% about what happens and 90% about how you react? You can only react positively if you are filled with gratitude. When you are filled with gratitude, extraordinary things happen. If you don’t appreciate gratitude, you can be influenced by the events.

It’s not good to experience a negative thing. I’m sure. Trust me. For many, many years I have struggled with loss and failure.

I have struggled with failure and loss for as long as anyone else, if perhaps more. Yet, every time I have tried, I always succeed in getting back out there. It didn’t completely devastate me. I got up and kept going. We often give up easily on things and retreat into our caves like hermits.

This is not how you should live. This is not how your life should be. It isn’t. It’s not possible to allow a bad situation to define you. It doesn’t matter what it is, someone else has been there.

You are not the only one who has struggled with it, and you will not be the last. You are one of 8 billion people on the planet. They live their lives moving from one place to another. Things just happen and will continue to happen for you the rest of your days.

How to shift your focus

You can change your reaction to something by listing everything you are grateful for. This will not only help during times of loss but also when you are happy. You just need to make a list and recite it each day. This should be done twice. You must do this twice: once at the beginning of the day when you wake up, and again at the end of the night before you go to bed.

Consider all the things in your life right now that you are grateful for. These things don’t need to be tied to any other people or objects. This includes things such as your ability to read and write.

Perhaps the ability to reason or speak logically. What about the fact you are six feet above the ground? What about the fact that you are here on earth, able to live life experiences and be present in the moment?

How about gratitude for the oceans, the wind, and the sun? Although we often take many things for granted. But what if you could list all the things that make your life worthwhile? It’s so unlikely that you are here, it just bends your mind.

Your existence and your birth are impossible. To exist, so many things had to occur in the universe. You won’t react negatively to the things happening right now if you stop and are grateful for them.

We are only here for a short time. The short term is only temporary. It was meant to be lived. It is our responsibility to appreciate it as it is. We must not compare our lives with others. It is important to add value and make an impact so that our lives are not just a passing blip. It’s a very small time in the history of mankind.

The modern human race has been around for approximately 200,001 years. This is a far cry from the 14 billion year timeline of the universe. Take your 70- or 80-year life, and it’s still a tiny existence. To put it in context, I said that. You can also use that for comfort and peace so you can live now and not worry about tomorrow or feel guilty about yesterday.

How to Change Your Reaction to Things

You can also change your reactions by being grateful. It is important to recognize that our reactions are a major factor in how we react to life’s events.

How can we change our reactions? You may struggle with emotions if you are an empath like me. Because we are very sensitive to energy and all things that affect that energy around us, this is why our emotions can be so strong. It’s difficult for us not to react to situations.

Regardless of whether you are an empath or not there are ways to change how you react to situations. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t react to emotions or have them. This simply means you will find your center. You will feel at peace, at one with all the world and everything around you. This is the best way to Change Your Reaction to Things.

1. Motion creates emotion

Get out of a rut. Get your blood pumping if you want to be positive. This is something that never ceases amazes me. No matter what our mood is, it doesn’t matter how hard we try to stay active. It increases blood oxygenation and releases happy endorphins to our brain, body, and central nervous system. It feels great.

2. Help others

Find a way to help others and contribute. It doesn’t matter what size of your contribution. It doesn’t even have to be money. You can also use your time. It can be as simple as volunteering your time. But, there is something inside you that shifts when you help others.

A complete mindset shift occurs when you give instead of worrying about what you will get. This is a clear shift in your mindset. It will definitely change how you respond to any situation.

3. Redefining your goals will help you gain clarity

Have you ever set goals before? No. They must be set. Where did you write them down? Is it been a while? What is your record of doing that? If you don’t have clear goals, you won’t be able to achieve clarity in your life.

If you want your life to have meaning, you need to identify what you want and create a plan. It is impossible to tie this meaning to any other person, place, or thing. It must go beyond that. It must have real impact and not just income.

4. Change your environment immediately

Change your environment if you feel down or out. Change your surroundings. If you are always indoors, get outside. If you can, find a body water such as a lake, river, or ocean and go sit down (weather permitting).

You can also get outside and enjoy the natural world. Break your habits and get moving. This is not only about going outside but also about being present. If you are serious about changing your thinking patterns, this is a crucial step.

5. Find a peaceful place to meditate

Meditation is an art. It is a discipline. You need to practice it. The art of meditation can have a profound effect on your life. It allows you to become one with the universe and to connect your energy with the earth. It is a powerful way to change how you feel at any given moment. You should seek out someone who can help you learn how to meditate correctly. This is because it takes practice.
