LET’S TALK IT OUT

Life is quite unpredictable, who would have thought out of nowhere one day we all will be locked in our homes, as a prisoner of this covid 19 virus. This outbreak hasn’t just taken a toll on us physically but also mentally.

According to The Stat News, rates of depression and anxiety climbed globally by more than 25% in 2020.

Our human brain is quite peculiar even if you study all the intertwined nerves of this 15cm long brain, even then there will be loads of unknown information left to comprehend. Which makes medical illnesses like depression very hard to understand.

A lot of people might not even know that they are depressed and those who are can never talk it out or express their feelings the reason being the fear of being judged.

In this new decade, we have raised our voices against or in the raise of numerous subjects, but there is still a lack of awareness about mental health.

It’s a need of an hour for us to understand how important it is to talk about mental awareness, to express our feelings, to talk it out when things don’t go the right way.

Mental illness affects more than physical illness. A patient lying on a hospital bed lives 50% due to medical science and the other 50% due to his/her will to live, this portrays how important it is to have a healthy mindset.

In this fast-paced world, everything is a competition which adds to a lot of stress for every being on this planet. It is not only the working man/woman of the family who’s suffering it’s also the kids or the elders of the house who have their struggles.

In conclusion, firstly it’s absolutely wrong to expect any group to be less pressurised or stressed.

So if you feel someone’s not mentally well be it your friend, neighbor, family member or even a stranger.

These things might help

1. Not just listening to them

Yes letting them speak is one thing but staying aware if a person really needs suggestions that you offer..

2. Replacing ‘You’ with ‘I’

When they speak about their situation, direct the conversation with ‘I’ instead of ‘You’.. (helps relate better)

3. Be only when they need

Unnecessarily being there even if your concern’s genuine might not be appreciated every time. Avoid doing so.

Remember, there are many reasons to be stressed, depressed, or to be crippled in anxiety but there’s only one reason to be happy and that is the chance to live a life with our loved ones.

So whenever you feel you aren’t worth living this life just remember there’s someone out there for whom your presence is everything.

Be someone’s reason to be happy and you will always find yourself happy even in the toughest of times. Let’s bring a full stop to all the mental health myths. Let’s talk it out.
